When purchasing a home, worrying about lead paint being present in the home is unfortunately something that goes overlooked for many home buyers. Majority of homes that were built before 1978 used both interior and exterior paint that contained lead. Contractors discovered that when they added this material into their paint it became very glossy and was desired by many, but at the time didn’t realize they were adding in a very harmful material to people and especially to children. Lead paint can be found on your walls, window panes and even commonly found on children’s wooden toys.
If your home was built before 1978 we recommend a lead paint test to be performed. This will allow you to be aware if you and your family may be exposed to a dangerous material and will need remediation or hopefully just give you the peace of mind you are all safe.
